The colder it gets day by day, the more likely I am to get into the habit of alternating between the same few pairs of pants. I tend to lean into an everyday ‘uniform’ that starts to feel boring after awhile. So, to keep that from happening, I like to have a few simple non-pant go-to outfits I can wear on a weekday that still feel easy and effortless. Also making sure the layers are warm so there’s no deterrent on those super cold mornings.

Recently, a wool mini skirt has been my favorite pant alternative. A dark denim or leather skirt would work great too! A mini skirt always felt counterintuitive to a winter wardrobe, but it works great when layered well.

I’m not worrying about below freezing temps here in San Francisco, so a thick pair of tights, warm socks, and tall boots do the trick. A thin turtleneck has also been a layering hero this winter. Adding the perfect amount of extra warmth under sweaters and oxfords. Add a scarf, long coat, and optional beret and it’s an easy yet chic winter workday look.
