Travel Recap: A Few Outfits from December Travels

For the holidays, I spent almost two weeks visiting friends and family on the east coast. When I travel, I never like to check a bag. Packing light with a carryon is always an exercise in mixing and matching plus finding versatility in my clothes.

Part of my trip was spent in cold (for me) Philadelphia and another part in warm Tampa. This was a fun task to pack for both climates! I think I was successful and overall happy with my outfits. So, I thought I’d share a few ensembles from the wintery leg of my trip and how I mixed and matched together with what I packed. Also, what I wore for the warmer weather, I swapped out pants for shorts and skirts and swapped a turtleneck for short sleeve polos.

Outfits

I only packed two pairs of long pants for this trip. Jeans, to wear on the plane, and corduroys pants which were good for packing. This velvet top is a thrift find. The velvet is warm and also works well on top of a turtleneck for extra warmth.

A similar look with my turtleneck and corduroy pants. I’m glad I packed these flats which worked perfectly in both climates. Added socks for the winter temps and paired with white shorts sans socks for the tropical weather.

This denim shirt on denim look is a favorite and was worn more than once! As an alternate shoe to the flats, I brought my black cowboy boots. I wore them on the plane to not have to pack as well. They were such a good shoe to bring! So comfortable and look great with both winter and summer outfits. I also love how they’re meant to last for years and years.

This was the only winter coat I brought to wear. I’ve had it for years and is always a classic (here is a newer version also from J.Crew). It matches great with everything and is super warm. This dress also worked for both climates. I wanted to bring a dress so pants weren’t all I was wearing.

When I wasn’t wearing my heavy coat, this sweater was the perfect layer. I bought the same one in bright green in Dublin last summer but then decided to order the same one in this beautiful dark grey. It is so warm it works well without a coat.

Overall, I’m very happy with what I packed. And that it all fit in my carryon bag! I also got to try clothing combos I hadn’t tried before and will be repeating here in San Francisco.
