Kitten Heels & Full Skirts

Madewell sweater (similar), Alex Mill skirt (similar), Everlane heels (similar)

I really was not expecting to see kitten heels become so prevalent this fall. I’ve had one black pair in my closet for years but I haven’t worn them in awhile. Mainly from a lack of inspiration on how and what to wear with them. And now that they’re popping up all over, the inspiration, for me, has peaked again.

I’m really happy I kept this pair and didn’t donate or sell. I’ve been bitten too many times selling something just because it wasn’t in style or because I wasn’t inspired by the piece at the time. So I held on to these. Tucking them away in my closet waiting for the cyclical nature of outfit inspiration to come around.

With that, I’m loving seeing all the kitten heels on the runway and in stores right now! A fresh deviation from summer’s sky high platforms and wedges. Matched with a resurgence of ultra classic 50’s silhouettes of full skirts, simple cardigans, and retro handbags.

The best thing about this combination is it’s practicality in everyday life. It’s an easy look to recreate and wear around town. Easy to layer for cold weather, and it’s also incredibly simple to personalize and make your own with a simple or maximalist full skirt and a pair of kitten heels to match.

Kitten Heel Options

These Miu Miu heels are my ultimate favorite but at a very high price point. Same with these white ones from Prada but they’re on my wish list! The color, detail, and vintage style heel are just perfect. At a more affordable price point, this black leather style from Larroude is so good. Reformation also has a some really similar options like these and these. Then for my favorite pair at lower price point are these from Sam Edelman.

Full Skirt Options

Full skirts, or a-line skirts, are such a versatile piece to have in your wardrobe that you can take in so many directions. Especially with this three item formula of sweater, skirt, and kitten heel.

This taffeta very full 50’s-esque skirt would be really fun to dress up for the holidays and then into spring for some fancier warm night looks. Same with this so pretty pink jacquard skirt. Alex Mill linen skirts are perfect for a more casual, everyday look and truly are wearable year round. And finally, you can never go wrong with a fun pattern like this or this!

If you’re more of a pants and flats go-to kind of person like me and looking to dress up more, I hope this helps inspire some more dressed up but similarly comfortable/practical looks!
