Styling Red Cowboy Boots
For years, a pair of red cowboy boots had been on my wish list. Did I know what I’d wear them with? Nope! But I love the idea of curating a closet with lots of things I love. Not necessarily all things that mix and match. But I think if you focus on what you truly like, you’ll always have something to wear. Get the thing you love and style it after.
I have family in Austin, Texas and visit a few times a year. I decided this last trip I should finally just get the red boots. So I did! I loved visiting the Allens Boots store and I’d be lying if I said I was very close to straying from the red boot plan and going with a teal or white pair. I kept focused (kind of!) and got this red pair that is perfect for fall and winter. But also, every day in San Francisco is almost always boot weather so a win for all seasons.
As I’ve had them for a couple months now, I’ve been playing around with different ways to style them. It’s also been much colder here the past week or so and have been wearing them a lot more than I had. Which made me want to document some looks and share them here!
I swear by linen in the winter time! Especially paired with a simple turtleneck (the one I’m wearing I’ve had for years). It’s often mistaken as a solely a summer fabric, but its layering possibilities are so good. When I lived in NYC, I’d wear a pair of tights and tall socks under my linen pants for extra warmth. The combo is also surprisingly super comfortable. Bonus points for a stretchy waistband on the linen pants.
Banana Republic has been my go-to for years now for my linen trousers. I also love linen specific stores like LinenFox and Not Perfect Linen for made to order pieces. Where you pick the piece and the color of linen you’d like. These places are really great if you’re looking to build a cohesive base wardrobe of everyday go-to items. Even better if you want a specific color scheme!
I purchased these corduroys from Uniqlo last winter and they’ve been a solid pair to have for work days, I really do wear them multiple times a week. They’re also great for travel and just simple weekend outfits. They’ve brought back a similar pair for only $20 right now! If I do get another pair of corduroy trousers this season, these ones from Alex Mill seem great. Also this cherry color pair and a similar high rise pair both from Banana Republic. I’ve already received the Black Friday 40% off code so that might just happen!
To deviate from the go-to trousers and warm top, red cowboy boots go so well with a longer dress. I like a classic fall color palette so the deep brown, black vintage leather, and red combo always feels good to me! The one i’m wearing is currently on sale for under $50 and has a really nice loose fit to it.
The easiest way to throw on some red boots is with a comfy denim and an easy crew neck sweater. I’ve been wearing this large cuff pair so much. They’re super stretchy so get pick more than my other pants. Looks like the dark wash is sold out but the light wash is really nice too! I also like these and these for a dark wash pair of large cuff denim.
I hope this helps with some easy red boot styling! Especially for some everyday outfits you can throw on and feel chic. That’s always the best to have.
