Building a Day to Night Wardrobe

Lately I’ve been really analyzing my personal style and current wardrobe. Really analyzing it. Spending a lot of time tracking what I lean towards in the mornings for work versus what’s fun to have but isn’t worn often. What ratio feels comfortable here? Then balancing practical with the non.

After a few weeks of tracking and studying, my main realization is that I like a cohesive wardrobe with items that aren’t necessarily for specific events and also don’t compromise comfort. I prefer to not have a distinct work wardrobe, going out wardrobe, fancy wardrobe etc. I like for it to blend together. A fun mix and match ‘choose how fancy or casual you want to be’ adventure.

Which got me thinking about my outfit from Saturday night. How everything I wore was perfect for both day and night time activities. I could easily wear any of these items to the office then for a night out.

I think the key here when looking for wardrobe pieces that easily go from day to night is to find ones that don’t lean heavily towards dressy or casual but can sway either way. Look for wardrobe items that teeter on this in-between. Then mixing and matching becomes so easy!

A pair of embellished flats like these or a simple kitten heel are great options to have in your closet for easy versatile fall styling. Or a simple leather jacket and a nice pair of dark flair jeans that are both work appropriate and restaurant ready.

Here are a few more options that would be great for day to night. Hope this helps for those of you looking to build a more cohesive wardrobe as well!
