Retro & Cozy in Cable Knit

I think I’ve had this L.L. Bean cable knit sweater now for at least 8 years, and it’s still one of my favorite sweaters. I remember buying it back when I lived in D.C. (during my very preppy years) not too long after graduating from college. A testament to its quality! Then when I moved to NYC it was a weekly staple in my winter wardrobe. My favorite sweater to layer over a button up and under a thick wool coat for work. Now, in San Francisco, it’s still one of my go-to layers for the chilly days here.

Since loving the look and warmth of a cable knit sweater I’ve slowly collected a few more over the years. I picked up this bright green one in Dublin two summers ago. I went into the Aran sweater market with the intention of getting another classic color like grey or navy. But when I saw this bright green I could not resist. It’s so fun and unique I knew I could always get a more neutral color later!

Is it the easiest to style? Not always! But it’s fun to have clothes that although we don’t always wear, we still absolutely love them.

I then purchased this grey cable knit last winter online from the same Dublin store. The neutral charcoal grey to go with the fun green and ivory as a part of my wardrobe. I tend to wear this one more dressed up with skirts and dresses with it’s longer length. But it’s still great for casual days at home to keep warm.

With all that said, I found some more classic cable knit sweaters to shop below to wear and layer this winter and hopefully many more to come!
